How Deputy and Redcat are taking the guesswork out of rostering

How Deputy and Redcat are taking the guesswork out of rostering

The old ‘pen and paper’ days of hospitality rostering are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Today, technology is helping restaurants know not only how many people to roster – but also who to roster – on any given shift. This is done via smart, data-driven predictions and forecasting.

At Redcat, we facilitate just this.

We have a proud and longstanding partnership with specialist rostering and management platform, Deputy. This partnership ensures your business always has the right number of staff to service your customers and is operating at its peak performance.

About the Redcat x Deputy partnership

Redcat and Deputy have been working together since 2017.

Through the partnership, Deputy is integrated into our point-of-sale (POS) software, giving it access to all Redcat customer sales data. By doing so, Deputy then analyses that data to predict, forecast and inform optimal rosters for future shifts.

Not only does Deputy use that sales data to tell a business how many people it should roster on any given shift, but it can also inform who to roster, based on the performance of specific team members at specific times. To use Deputy’s own words, you can “automatically schedule your best team members at the same time”.

For example, if a restaurant is experiencing recurring peaks in orders during specific times (Tuesday evenings past 7pm, Friday mornings between 8 – 11am, etc), Deputy’s sophisticated algorithm lets that business know that more staff are needed during those times. What’s more, it will recommend the best staff for the job, based on their past performances working together.

What does this mean for me and my business?

This method – called ‘smart scheduling’ – takes the guesswork out of rostering through tangible sales data. Again, in Deputy’s words, it “helps you make smarter business decisions”.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to more efficient business operations, a reduction in staff stress and an increase in profits.

What’s more, by providing you with this advanced rostering technology through our Deputy integration, Redcat allows you to focus on your own business and minimise the stress or challenges that rostering can cause.

An important partnership for now and in the future

Our partnership with Deputy is more important than ever, especially as staffing problems are plaguing the hospitality industry across the country. By integrating Deputy into our own tech platform, we take comfort knowing that the guesswork is taken out of your rostering requirements, and that you are making decisions backed by real, tangible data.

From Deputy’s perspective, it has always been (and always will be) Australia’s scheduling leaders. Partnerships and integrations like the one it has with Redcat allows it to stay ahead of the curve, and gather important information to help inform and improve its own product.
